Do these viral tiktok recipes even work?

So, your boy has a TikTok and who would have thought that my most viral videos on there are my are air fryer ones. I mean it makes sense, TikTok is a platform for short form content where people want quick and simple recipes. One kitchen appliance that fits the bill is an air fryer! It makes meals quick and easy.

I have been scrolling through tiktok recipes and some have caught my eye. Some for the better and some for the worse (haha). Can we make three pancakes at a time? Is cooking salmon easier in the air fryer? Is it possible to get super crispy and tender chicken in under 15 minutes? What about flamin’ hot mozzarella stick? Well, I’m going to head into the kitchen to try out some of these viral dishes and put them to the test. Click here to see how they turned out!

Flamin’ Hot Mozzarella Stick


  • 6 low moisture mozzarella stick

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1 cup of flour with a pinch of salt & garlic powder

  • 1 bag of flamin’ hot Cheetos


  1. Grab a bag of flamin’ hot Cheetos and pulse them in a food processor until you are left with a bread crumb like consistency. Dump out the mix into a large plate.

  2. Mix the flour, salt, and garlic powder in another plate. Crack and egg into another bowl and give it a good mix.

  3. Grab the low mozzarella stick and dredge them in flour. Next, into the egg and then into the Cheeto mix.

  4. Dredge back into the flour, then egg, and last into the Cheeto mix for a double coat.

  5. Freezer for 1 hour. 15 minutes before you are ready to fry the Cheetos mozzarella stick, preheat the air fryer.

  6. Air fry for 390 F for 5 minutes.

Asian Soy Sauce Chicken


  • 4 Chicken thighs (bone in, skin on)

  • 4 tablespoons of regular soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon of five spice

  • 1 teaspoon of sugar

  • 1 clove of garlic, minced

  • 1 small knob of ginger, minced


  1. Start by deboning you chicken thighs. Click here to see how I did it. Timestamp: 2:30

  2. Pat dry the chicken and then place them into a bowl with the soy sauce, five spice, sugar, minced garlic and ginger.

  3. Give it a good mix and let it sit for 30 minutes. You can make some rice in the meantime.

  4. Spray the air fryer container with some oil and place the chicken thighs skin side up. Air fry at 380F for 16 minutes.

  5. Serve with rice & chopped scallions. Enjoy!

Perfect Air Fried Salmon


  • 1 fillet of salmon, skin on

  • 2 teaspoons of mustard

  • 1 teaspoon of old bay


  1. Cut your salmon into two equal sized pieces. Click here to see how I did it. Timestamp: 14:10

  2. Pat dry your salmon and then spread on some mustard all over it.

  3. Sprinkle old bay all over the salmon. Basically giving it an old bay coat.

  4. Preheat the air fryer while the salmon is resting. Once preheated, place the salmon skin side up and air fry at 380F at 10 minutes.

  5. Serve with rice and roasted veggies. Enjoy!
