It's actually insane how much pizza oven technology has advanced in the last five years to the point where people like you and me, regular home cooks, can bang out incredible restaurant style dishes at home. Although one of these pizza ovens is going to be a fraction of the cost of an actual wood fired brick oven, it's still an investment no matter how you cut it. So the goal of today is to really see how far we can push a pizza oven. I'm going to be testing its limits but trying out seven different recipes, all of which are not pizza! Fun recipes like ribeye, honey roasted carrots, apple and oat crumble, and tandoori inspired chicken skewers! Click here to see the full video!

Pita Pockets:

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of flour
  • 2 gram of yeast
  • 10 grams of salt
  • 325 grams of water

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and water. Mix until you have a shaggy dough ball. Take it out of the bowl and give it a few stretch & folds over the course of two hours.
  2. Place it into a greased bowl and cover. Let it sit overnight.
  3. The next day, take the dough out and form out 8 - 10 mini dough balls. Let it rest for 30 minutes covered.
  4. Roll out a mini dough ball into a circle about 1/4 inch thick. See how I did this here!
  5. Place your pita into the pizza oven and cook for 1 - 2 minutes. Most times you will get a puff but sometime you wont!
  6. Repeat until you have used up all the mini dough balls.
