Making The Perfect Chicken Tender In The AirFryer!

We are back exploring more culinary magic with my good friend, the air fryer! We’ve done the chicken wing, we’ve done the French fry, and we’ve crowned winners for both. Today we are exploring another staple of fried goodness: the chicken tender. They’re one of my favorites so today we’re going to be setting up controlled experiments with proper variables, a bunch of different trials, possibly some tribulations… all with the goal of crowning the perfect air fryer chicken tenders. Click here to see who won the best air fried chicken tender!

Cornflake Chicken Tender

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of cornflakes
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 pound of chicken, cut into tender sized pieces
  • salt to taste

 

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, add in the cornflake and pulse until you have a breadcrumb like texture. Pour into a bowl and set aside.
  2. To two different bowls, add the flour in one and the eggs into another one. Whisk the eggs until homogenous.
  3. Then dip the chicken tender into the flour, followed by the egg, and lastly into the cornflake mixture. Repeat until all the chicken tenders are coated.
  4. Place the chicken tenders into the airfryer and spray with some oil on both sides.
  5. Air fry the chicken tender at 380 F fro 6 – 8 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Take out the chicken tenders and sprinkle over some salt for flavor.

Pasta Chip Chicken Tender

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of short cut pasta
  • Oil
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 pound of chicken, cut into tender sized pieces
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. To a pot of boiling water, cook the pasta according to the box instruction. Drain and coat in a little bit of oil. Air fry the cook pasta at 390F for 5-7 minutes. Shake half way through.
  2. In a food processor, add in the fried pasta and pulse until you have a breadcrumb like texture. Pour into a bowl and set aside.
  3. To two different bowls, add the flour in one and the eggs into another one. Whisk the eggs until homogenous.
  4. Then dip the chicken tender into the flour, followed by the egg, and lastly into the pasta chip mixture. Repeat until all the chicken tenders are coated.
  5. Place the chicken tenders into the airfryer and spray with some oil on both sides.
  6. Air fry the chicken tender at 380 F fro 6 – 8 minutes or until golden brown and crispy

Panko Chicken Tender

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup of panic bread crumbs
  • 1/2 pound of chicken, cut into tender sized pieces
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. To three different bowl, add the flour in one, the eggs in one, and the panko bread crumbs to another. Whisk the eggs until homogenous.
  2. Then dip the chicken tender into the flour, followed by the egg, and lastly into the panko bread crumbs. Repeat until all the chicken tenders are coated.
  3. Place the chicken tenders into the airfryer and spray with some oil on both sides.
  4. Airfry the chicken tender at 380 F fro 6 – 8 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Take out the chicken tenders and sprinkle over some salt for flavor.

Walnut Chicken Tender

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of almond
  • 1/4 cup of walnuts
  • 1/4 cup of sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 pound of chicken, cut into tender sized pieces
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, add in the almond and walnut and pulse until you have a breadcrumb like texture. Pour into a bowl and set aside.
  2. To two different bowls, add the flour in one and the eggs into another one. Whisk the eggs until homogenous.
  3. Then dip the chicken tender into the flour, followed by the egg, and lastly into the nut & seed mixture. Repeat until all the chicken tenders are coated.
  4. Place the chicken tenders into the airfryer and spray with some oil on both sides.
  5. Air fry the chicken tender at 380 F fro 6 – 8 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Take out the chicken tenders and sprinkle over some salt for flavor.

Potato Chip Chicken Tender

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of potato chips
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 pound of chicken, cut into tender sized pieces
  • salt to taste

 

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, add in the potato chips and pulse until you have a breadcrumb like texture. Pour into a bowl and set aside.
  2. To two different bowls, add the flour in one and the eggs into another one. Whisk the eggs until homogenous.
  3. Then dip the chicken tender into the flour, followed by the egg, and lastly into the chip mixture. Repeat until all the chicken tenders are coated.

Honey Mustard Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of mustard
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 1/4 cup of mayo

Instructions:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix until well combined.
  2. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.
