Can TikTok Push my Pizza Skills to The Next Level?

For those of you familiar with the channel you know I am obsessed with pizza making. I’ve been working over the last few years to really perfect my craft but today we’re breaking away from tradition to once again scour the world of TikTok for the craziest pizza creations. The goal is to research, recreate to see if the hits actually stand up to the recipes in real life. Click here to see how they came out! 

Burrata Toast 

Ingredients: 

  • 2 thick slices of sourdough bread 
  • Butter for spreading
  • Truffle oil for drizzling 
  • 1 yellow heirloom tomato
  • 2 plum tomatoes 
  • Olive oil for drizzling 
  • Pinch of flakey salt 
  • Pinch of oregano 
  • 1 lemon 
  • 2 burrata balls 
  • Parmesan for grating 
  • ¼ cup of tomato sauce 
  • Chili flakes, optional 
  • A few sprigs of fresh basil 
  • 1 garlic clove 

 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Butter both sides of the sourdough toast and then drizzle over some truffle oil as well
  2. Heat on a skillet or oven until golden on both sides.
  3. In the meantime, slice the tomatoes and dress with olive oil, lemon juice, salt and oregano. Separately, make the pizza sauce by combining tomato sauce, a pinch of chili, a few sprigs of basil, and grate in 1 clove of garlic. 
  4. Once the toast is done toasting, rip open the burrata right one top. Place the marinated tomatoes on top. Grate over some parmesan cheese. Bake in the oven at 350 until the burrata is melted. 
  5. Spoon over the marinara sauce along with more parmesan cheese. Pop back into the oven just to heat it up. Slice and enjoy! 

Spring Pizza 

Ingredients: 

  • 3 pizza dough balls, recipe below 
  • Olive oil for drizzling 
  • Parmesan for grating 
  • 1 mozzarella ball 
  • 2 – 3 slices of prosciutto 
  • 4 – 5 snap peas 
  • A few sprigs of basil
  • 1 lemon
  • Balsamic vinegar for drizzling 
  • Pinch of oregano 
  • Touch of flakey salt

Instructions:

  1. Let your pizza dough come to room temperature before you start. (About 30 – 40 minutes) Preheat your oven to 500 degrees or your pizza oven to 750-800 degrees.
  2. Flatten out your pizza dough and then grate over some parmesan cheese along with freshly cracked black pepper. Place into the pizza oven for 1 – 2 minutes (regular oven for 20 – 30 mins) or until nice and charred. 
  3. Top with olive oil, grated parmesan cheese, ripped up fresh mozzarella, prosciutto,  snap peas (taken out of the shell), basil leaves, lemon juice, balsamic, dried oregano, a drizzle of olive oil and a touch of flakey salt.
  4. Slice & Serve! 

65% Hydration Pizza Dough: 

Ingredients:  

  • 1000 grams of bread flour 
  • 650 grams of water 
  • 5 grams of yeast 
  • 10 grams of salt 
  • 10 grams of olive oil

Instruction: 

  1. In a bowl combine bread flour, water, yeast, salt, and olive oil to a bowl. Knead until a dough forms. 
  2. Let it rest for 15 minutes and then knead for 5 minutes. Alternatively, you can give it 3 – 4 stretch and folds over the course of 1 hour. 
  3. Once the gluten has developed, shape into a ball and set in an airtight container in the fridge overnight. 
  4. After 12 hours have gone by, the dough is ready to be made into pizza! 

For the spinach pie, replace the 650 grams of water with the following:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of spinach
  • Drizzle oil 
  • 650 grams of water 

Instructions: 

  1. In a blender, blend up the spinach, oil, and water until smooth. Replace the water in the recipe above with this spinach mixture. Follow the pizza recipe as directed. 

Vegan Spinach Pizza 

Ingredients: 

  • Spinach Pizza Dough, recipe above 
  • Olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of lentils 
  • ½ cup of tomato sauce 
  • ½ cup of water 
  • ½ cup of shredded vegan mozzarella 
  • ½ cup of arugula microgreens 
  • A couple tablespoons of pesto 

Instructions:

  1. Start by drizzling in some oli to a pot along with chopped onion and minced garlic. Once sauteed add in lentils, tomato sauce, and water. Cook on low for 20-25 minutes or until the lentils have softened completely. 
  2. Shape the spinach dough into a 9-10 inch circle. Spread down the tomato lentil mixture followed by mozzarella. 
  3. Place in the pizza oven for 2 – 3 minutes or until the crust is slightly puffy and charred. 
  4. Remove from the heat, and top with microgreens and pesto. Slice and serve! 

Vodka Square Pizza 

Ingredients: 

  • 2 cups of Pizza Sauce, recipe above 
  • ½ cup of heavy cream 
  • ¼ cup of vodka 
  • Olive oil
  • 1 ball of pizza dough (about 300 grams) 
  • 1 ball of mozzarella 

Instruction

  1. In a pot on medium heat combine pizza sauce, heavy cream, and vodka. Bring to a boil for 2 minutes and then remove from heat. 
  2. In a 8x8in pan, drizzle in some olive oil and stretch out the pizza dough to fit the pan. If it pulls back, let it rest for 15 minutes and then try again. 
  3. Spread the vodka sauce over top followed by mozzarella. Place in the pizza oven and cook for 3 – 5 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is puffed and slightly charred.
